That time again
Hi
Well it's that time again, i started my second year of my F.D course. I went all positive and ready to get started, to get there and have not recieved a vitial important email.
i was supose to have gone with the idea of a topic i want to look at for my research methods module, i could have cried!!!!
Everybody was rolling of their topics and i had to sit there, i was "way out of my depth"!!!!!!
I am now panicking because i need to think by tonite!!!
What a great start

Re: That time again
I think i have decided on a title for my project something along the lines of
comparing Nature V's Nurture in children, which one is a stronger influence on behaviour?
I have always been interseted in childrens behaviour, what triggers it and the feelings behind them.
Does this sound ok?

Re: That time again
Sarah,Im with you 100% Dont worry about going on,thats what we are here for !
Right lets think together because Im desperately trying to come up with something as well !!
It defo needs to be something that interests/excites you -something that you want to investigate in more depth. It has to be something that you can keep going with for a long time .
Im leaning towards behaviour, possibly compareing how behaviour issues are delt with in different schools.I worked in a small school where most of the time issues or innapropriate behaviour was talked through and sometimes even just a shake of the head could stop something happening.Ive never worked in a big school but im sure a shake of the head would go unoticed in a bigger classroom etc ? I was thinking of looking at behaviour control in our country and compering it to ..say france ?
I know how you are feeling cos I spoke to one of my collegues today and she already has her question sorted !!!!
So yes defo make your list -make a for/against page put ideas down and see how much each one comes up with .Maybe put a search into google and see what you get ?google scholar is good for that .Look for research on things to see what comes up ? what about a library ? I live in my uni library !! I will keep thinking for you but if you need a chat pm me xxx

Re: That time again
Sound advice Mrs P... Sarah, nature v nurture sounds fascinating... We have just started a nurture program in our school this past year , and if you look at the children who are taking part ... It makes interesting reading... I know that many schools inScotland have a nurture class ... And they work well ... However, as caffeine says you need to be able to produce the stats ... There have been quite a few nurture qualification and courses introduce recently...so the need is there and recognised !, good luck cx

That's a great reaction Caffeine, and everyone needs to thinkabout that when doing any form of essay, dissertation etc.. It is essential to plan what you are doing , and weigh up the pros and cons !!

Re: That time again
Hi all
I would like to say thank you for all your advice and support through my panicking.
I have spent the week not stressing and came up with a few titles,
How is the behaviour of boys impacted by the classroom environment?
What is the impact of the structure of the day on the behaviour of boys?
The effectiveness of the transition process for children from the early years foundation stage to key stage one and the countinuity of play in year one ( I am really passionate about this, find it very interesting)
x

Re: That time again
Love these ideas Sarah ....especially the one about play...but why just year one?? Have you considered expanding it to include the ks1. Children ? Can make comparisons with other areas in Europe where children don't start school until older

Re: That time again
oooh I've been looking at the last one and also the independence in early years and how this can be 'bred out ' by key stage 2

Oh i never i thought of that.
We have just started working i this way in the setting where i work and i love it. I have got to observe children in adult led activities, at challenge tables or through their independent learning and it amazes me how it helps there all round development.
