What do you do to relax - at work or at home?

I just left a message about grinding my teeth due to frustration and how I must relax at work.

The other day I suddenly became aware that my jaw has got really tight and my shoulders were up near my ears. Does anyone else get this? I wondered whether this happen because we are always having to check what we are going to say or having to keep our opinions and views to ourselves.

I find this a lot especially when I get colleagues jumping in on what I am saying when I am asked a question on the best way to support a child. I was warned about this by my lecturers at university, that after years of studying you suddenly gain in confidence and have the knowledge and ability to support others. I do not mind others opinions and views but when they don't actually know what they are talking about and they have the cheek to correct me well the teeth start to grind and the shoulders begin to rise.

To counteract this I pop in a classic cd, or go on an errand that doesn't really need doing. If that isn't possible I just sit and gaze out the window near my desk and focus on the trees. The tension eases and lets me get on with the job in hand. When I get home I have the most fantastic relaxing cd, I stretch out pop the headphones on and within seconds I am visualising walking along a sandy shore, with the blue waves rolling in and the sun beating down on me. Lovely.

A good way to relax Dizzy, maybe you could do a bit of that at work without the music, may help with the teeth x

Dizzy when work colleaques annoy me I smile very sweetly (sometimes a sarcastic comment will come out as well - e.g. if they are talking rubbish I might say "oh gosh that never came up on the courses I've been on I wonder why")
for relaxation at home I come on here, reading always helps me just to blot out everything but if I'm really wound up I have to move around
oh help I forgot the most important relaxation method - coffee

i find it hard to relax at school. there's children everywhere! at home i like to switch on the tele and watch old comedies that are repeated endlessly! they may not be all that amusing now but they do make me smile...and i don't need to use any brain cells, i just sit and stare with a far away smile on my face.
I'm brought back to reality when my own kids ask "mum, are you ok?" bless them!

Oh I do that sit and stare on the bus on the way to and from work lols x

oh I never relax at work either far too stressful and never a second to stand still but smiling at annoying people does help the blood pressure!!!!
