How many hours of study? A ballpark figure please.

I have recently started the level 3 certificate supporting teaching and learning in schools ( primary).

I attend college one day a week for 3.5 hrs.
I volunteer in class as a TA for 6hrs.

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure as to how many hours per week I should be spending in addition to the above on the written work/ studying needed to my units?

This isnt really my area but I think its very difficult to actually put a figure on the time needed as everyone works at differentspeeds etc.
My Foundation degree said it was 15hrs per week but I spent double that !!
I believe you have to be prepared to spend as much time as you need,but remember that the more you put in the higher mark you will get plus if you are going to do it you may as well do it well.Some things will be far more detailed and require more work than others .Im sure others on here will give you more advice xx

I quite agree Linda, some parts you will be able to rattle of quickly and you may be able to cross reference from level 2. When you are in college are you working independently or is the tutor talking all the time? If you are able to crack on I would say approx 30-60 minutes a day.
It all depends how you preferred to work some days I would do a couple of hours and really crack on. Other days I would sit down to work and I'd mess around. Then there is the time you spend hunting down policies etc.
If you are able to do alot of work in college than I would say 30 mins a night should be enough.
Just make sure you get some me time

The tutor talks a lot in college, but there is also group work etc. she gives us lots of worksheets / activities which structure our learning and link to the criteria.

mmm sorry to be so wishy washy in answering I would say another hour a day then or 5 hours spread as you wish

I know with level 2 I was doing way too much....worried I would miss something out there and it took over my life.

I don't want it to be the same this time. I enjoy studying and always want to do my best, but need to keep it in perspective that yes the course is a part of my life, but should not take over.

As a tutor of the level three I tell my students for every hour they attend the centre they should be working at home. As has been said some units are quicker than others and some are mainly observed outcomes which is even better. Focus on the long lengthy units that need you to collate evidence and documents from your setting. Make sure what you write in class is tidy so you can just log it in your file and save time rewriting unnecessarily. Most of all enjoy!
