Foundation Degree In Primary Teaching and Learning Empty Foundation Degree In Primary Teaching and Learning

Post by Ms-M Tue May 21, 2013 9:41 pm

Hi everyone it's been awhile!!

Well after completing and passing my NVQ 2, 3 and my HLTA Status (with much support from the old site). I have decided to move on to the next chapter of my school career.
It has been confirmed via the Open Uni that I will be starting my Foundation Degree in Primary Teaching and Learning in Oct 13.
I was just wondering if anyone here has/is/will be completing/completed this course. I hadn't heard of it until I went on the the Open Uni website and was curious to see what others thought about it.
Originally I was going to do the Foundation Degree in Early Years but couldn't afford missing time for college and that's when I found what appears to be a more suitable Foundation Degree.

I'm not sure how to feel about it either, I feel excited and anxious all at the same time!! Is this 'normal'? Embarassed
Was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this course. Very Happy
Thanks again everyone.

Thank you Caffeine needed and well done on your completion with the E111!! And almost finishing the E101 and E212. I think I will probaly take a similar route. I figured I'd just do the one module to begin with and double up for my second yr and then finish off with one.
I kind of want to just get on with it now, but have to wait until Oct, which is a pain as I'm beginning to wonder what I've let myself in for!

I know you still have a yr to go but what do you plan on doing after you have completed all 4 modules? Will you be doing the top up?

I think I'm getting myself into a bit of a muddle. I thought I had it figured out but I'm not sure anymore, as I have been reading different articles. With this Foundation Degree and then doing the top up to make it a full Degree, can this qualification be used to progress to teacher training?

I guess I just want a clear map on how to become a teacher and see if this is the path I eventually will want to take. Lost.com!

yes I will do the top up I'm choosing children's lit and Issues in research witj children and young people which is a compulsory model. This will give me my degree and I then want to do SCITT for a year and qualify as a teacher
You may not be able to double up in your 2nd year as E212 is a second level I only managed it as it started in Feb for me and I'd nearly finished E101. But this year it is starting in October and someone else wanted to do them together but couldn't. However things change year by year.
If you want something to be getting on with try some of the short courses o.u. do on line. any help with E111 or anything else just shout

Oh good luck on your new study journey and Helen has worked really hard throughout her journey and has lots of advice to offer you. She has has screamed, shouted and at times cried but that is all part of the journey.

I hope we can support you and give you a place to let of steam as well x

like now as I'm writing my EMA (end of module assignment) which you must pass. I've passed the TMA's (tutor marked assignments so far) with not bad scores but I am not happy with this one. I still have a couple of days to tweak and because it's the holidays I can!
