Here are some of the typical questions asked (as provided by a friend who is an assessor ) Originally posted by Hufflepup Very Happy
There have been many posts on the forum about questions that the assessors might ask. Here are a few that I have picked out:

How do you feed back to the teacher and how do you assess whether children
have progressed in learning .
Give me an eg. of an actvitiy that you had planned ,that you had to change
when you carried out the actvity to meet the needs of the children . eg . of
spur of the moment thinking...
If a child said a racist comment what would you do ?
Talk me through the process of the schools SEN policy.
How do i progress learning . Give egs.
Give me an example of how i have dealt with bad behaviour . What methods
did I use?
Have you had the opportunity to observe others. What did you learn?
How has going on a particlular course improved your proffessional
development? How do you make sure you differentiate the work that you plan ?
My involvement in assessment and recording .
How and why I analysis the information
What is your overall contribution to the school? (Chlo)

How do you get on with other TAs - do they see you as a leader?
What would you do if a teacher had planned work which was inappropriate for
child you're working with?
What do you know about the SEN Code of Practice? (brief info not necessary to quote)
How do you manage behaviour in the classroom?
How often do you teach whole class alone?
How do you contribute to the ethos of the school?
How would you deal with a racist remark from a child?
Do you do your own planning or does teacher?
How are your ICT skills?
How do you contribute to record-keeping?
Do you have much contact with parents and what sort of relationships do you
have with them? Have you been involved in a risk assessment for a trip?
How confident are you about Child Protection issues?
If there are ethnic minority children in your class how do you deal with them when teaching RE without showing disrespect for their background?

Contribution from Caffeine Needed
How do you find out the Learning objective and intended outcomes for activities in which you are involved and what are the main considerations when applying them to your work with children?

Can you describe 2 or 3 examples of how you have evaluated pupils progress during or following a learning activity?

Tell me why it is important to be flexible as you monitor children at work. Have you ever changed an activity in response to monitoring?

Which records of pupils progress do you contribute to regularly and how do you use them to inform future planning?

If I were to observe you at work what would I see you doing to maintain pupils motivation and interest when leading or guiding an activity?

Can you give me a practical example of what communicating effectively and sensitively with pupils means to you?

From Pinkprincess
* She asked for an example of my planning from my folder and asked me how I had set about doing the planning. Where had I got it from? Did I share it with the class teacher ? How did I differentiate the work ? Were there any SEN children in the class ?
* Asked me for an example of when I had challenged equal opps (I had done a task on this and just used that example again which was fine)
* Procedure for dealing with a child protection issue, a racist incident and bullying
* How do I feedback to the class teacher on how children have made progress in a lesson ?
* Asked me for an example of a key factor affecting learning - again I had done this as a small task so talked a bit more about that and she seemed happy with that
* My awareness of the SEN policy
* How do I assess and provide focussed feedback to children at the end of a lesson?
* What training have I had relevant to my role and how do I develop my own knowledge and practice ?
* Knowledge of what levels the children I support are working at.
* Give examples of what ICT I used within school
* How do I use ICT to advance pupils' learning ?
* Give an example of personalised provision
* Talk about my awareness of Health & Safety
* Give an example of communicating sensitively with a colleague or a pupil
* How often do I liase with parents ?
* An example of delivering a lesson where I motivated the children and they made good progress
* An example of directing other adults in the classroom
* An example of inclusion
* How do I demonstrate and model positive behaviour and values in children ?
* Example of my record keeping - especially assessment records and how do I pass these to the class teacher.

*Directing other adults (must be in a classroom setting)
* How do I demonstrate positive behaviour
* How do I evaluate progress during the lesson
* An example of record keeping
* Choice of resources to suit ability
* How many times I taught a full class over the timetable (we have a 2 week timetable)
* how I ensure progression of full class
* Planning and if I’d suggested something to a teacher that they had since used
* equal opps (I had 2 different examples in my tasks/evidence)
* Speaking to or giving feedback to parents
* My contribution to IEP writing
* Acting upon advice given to me
