Engage in personal development in children’s and young people’s settings Empty Re: Engage in personal development in children’s and young people’s settings

I have been asked to

" You will need to describe the duties and responsibilities of own work role against the criteria in the level 3 job description.

Describe your role as a learning support practitioner in terms of supporting pupils, the Teacher, the school and the curriculum."

Assessment criteria
1.1 - describe the duties and responsibilities of own work role
1.2- explain expectations about own work role as expressed in relevant standards

I am thinking I need to describe what I do ( in respect to the 4 categories- pupil support, teacher support etc) and compare these to the level 3 job description ie relevant standard.

I'm just wondering the best way to write this down? I am considering going along the lines of the blurb paragraph when filling out job application forms where you make sure you 'answer' the requirements of the job description.

(The next stage is to receive feedback from class teacher etc to evaluate performance and identify areas to develop.)

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Kathyb

Hi everyone,

I am stuck on the question

(2nd question) Expectations about own work role as expressed in relevant standards.

I have described what i do to support teacher, school, parent, community and general requirements. But i have pretty much explained my what i'm expected to do against my job descriptionin the first question - Describe the duties and responsibilities of own work role.

What else can i say?? for the 2nd question???

So stuck please help

Amy x

Relevant standards are the occupational standards, have you mentioned these?

pick out the main standards that are pertinent to your role. I dont know them offhand but say there was one about supporting a group to make two points progress in essay writing and you work in reception this wouldnt be pertinent to your role!
write out the sandard or if they have numbers perhaps you could use that and then say what you are expected to do at work for that standard as this is personal development are the standards probably not educational but more social and emotional?

Right i am definately stuck. Don't no if i'm just being completely thick or what but this task 2 - explain expectations about own role as expressed in releveant standards is confusing me totally.

I have looked at the standards and i think good majority of the 69 units relate to my role as a teaching assistant/sen. Surely i don't have to write about them all???

so stuck Sad

think you only need to pick the standards which relate to health and social care as this is the unit you are doing

No to the STL standards amy. Sadly the unit title covers both areas and I will adjust that now.

Engage in personal development in children’s and young people’s settings Empty Re: Engage in personal development in children’s and young people’s settings

Post by amy_d21 Tue Mar 26, 2013 3:45 pm

Hey just me again, Having had a nightmare with task 4 i finally did it and got it checked and was fine. However i'm now on:

Task 6 Unit 4 (STL) Evaluate own knowledge, peformance and understanding against relevant standards????

I feel like i am just repeating myself over and over again.

I email my tutor and asked if have to relate to every standard which is relevant to my job, he said yes.

But i'm stuck on how to actually write it down. I'm thinking look at standards and then job description and match these up and give example of how i use the knowlege, performance and undertstanding.

However when you actually look at the standards units there is loads of bullet points for each section arghhh. How can i complete this task but not write ridiculous amounts.

Has anyone completed this who can tell me how they set it out?

Thanks x

Summarise and be concise.
Name a standard and then how you work to it. You do not need to write lot for this as long as your info is secure Very Happy Hope this helps
