That good lols

My dentist trip went well flmao, not! I arrived at 8.45 to be told oh the consultant you are seeing doesn't have his surgery until this afternoon. Mmmn, but to cut a long story short I was seen, had more xrays and then told, come back at 2.
So we did. It appears I may have a fracture or fractures to the bone under my nose. The teeth that are loose following the accident are not able to be saved due to the bone housing them being damaged. So Friday I go for another three taken out and in two weeks back to check on my 'is it a fracture or not a fracture or two.' Couldn't make it up really!

I had a mini panic attack when we first went out this morning when it came to crossing a road, however I wanted to go to where the accident happened and face my demons. So we did and to see how far I was thrown was a shock (didn't cry until I got back home Very Happy ). I can remember it all very clearly and I have crossed in the same spot so many times that if I had a quid every time, my next holiday would be in the Bahamas lol.
Going to be off work at least next week as well as my foot has lots of soft tissue damage and is still very swollen and painful to walk on. Going back and forth today didn't help though.

lms - you really are going through it with this accident, I do feel for you. Please don't rush back to work until you are fully fit - and if you feel tempted, know that you would be advising anyone else to take all the time they needed! I hope you get everything sorted, and hope someone else is paying for anything that costs lots of dosh, like dental treatment. Take care x

Post by Lil Miss Sunshine on Tue Oct 16, 2012 7:48 am

Gracie and Caff I will take it easy, got a bossy hubby to make sure I do. Back to docs today and going to get my ankle checked out and explain about the panic attack. Hopefully todays trip out will be easier, sadly I have to go by the crossing again Sad Oh well suck it up and carry on lols.

Some good news though I have passed my APEL work for Cert Ed and now can focus on achieving that now. One of the assignments was on grading yourself against satisfactory, good and outstanding. I graded as Satisfactory in my view, tutor didn't agree but I said I can only improve now and show a difference, so she left it at my view lols. As part of this I have to give a talk on my specialist subject to an auditorium of my peers and will also be screened live on the uni website, easy peasy after doing congress, really looking forward to that and hopefully I will have some teeth for then as it isn't while next year Very Happy

Oh Cindy you are such a star - even after everything thats happened you still find time to joke about it all x
Brilliant news on passing your APEL !!!
As for your talk -you can do that in your sleep !! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I sat my gcse language study paper last night (should be next week !) we all did the planning sheet 1st and i knew what I wanted to say so whipped through my planning sheet.
2 people who were going to be absent next week had asked to sit their paper a week early, and as i was ready I did too !! tbh i just wanted it over with as ive sooo much uni stuff to do.I actually enjoyed writing the study piece and analised lots of aspects ie compareing how people speak differently to different people,ie posh voice for the vicar etc .We had to use our 2 transcripts and include them as well .This morning I had my fav module -Childhood,reading and lit,by far the most interesting !!
Having one of my best mates over this evening for a cuppa and chat,we dont see much of each other but will carry on as if we only said goodbye 5 mins ago =a true friend.Ive known her for 20yrs (we met at parent craft classes ). Tomorrow is my afternoon at uni = Maths/dissertation/teaching and professionalism ,then home to weigh in at slimming world .xxx

I will sign it!
Hi all xx
I am totally exhausted too and we are all getting a bit snappy with each other at school! So I am finding myself biting me tongue more and more!
We had an art open morning today which was really nice but by the afternoon (my hlta time) the children were all over the place and then the rain stopped our pe lesson too.
But Thursday tomorrow... and then Friday when I only work until 1:30 Yay!
Very Happy

Very interesting day ................ school day was just like everyone else's is right now, we're tired, kids tired - everyone a bit ill and more than a bit snappy .............. but went to a tea party after school! Last year, for the first time in living memory, one of our kids went to a local independent school rather than one of the many city comps. A couple of weeks ago, beautifully hand written invitations arrived for me and our HT to go to tea at the school tonight, with the new Y7 girls as hosts. I'm as cynical as the next person, but I have to admit I was very pleasantly surprised. We had a grand tour of the school (which was like any other secondary, only smaller - they have 3 Y7 classes), then a very delicious tea with an 'entertainment' by the girls. The HT also spoke. All the girls and the staff were lovely, but what REALLY struck us was how proud they all were of the school - both the staff and the girls. It was definitely 'another world' - especially when they all sang the school song - but quite an experience.

well celebrations abound the teacher I was covering for this morning arrived in a 10.30 as her course had been cancelled. This meant I got 2 hours ppa time!!!!!!!
It worked wonders and meant that I could make Torahs with yr2 in the afternoon without getting stressed - just me 30 kids dowelling, paper and sellotape. Great fun!!!!!!
It also meant I could get through the twilight with no problems other than boredom

To top it off some of the cars have their music so loud that I can sing along with them! LOL But I have my box of jaffa cakes so I'm okay.......until they are all gone that is....
Oh and school was okay he he

One more week to go folks or none at all for some of you. Very Happy
I went back to the dentist today and had two teeth extracted that were damaged in the accident. Another sick note from the doctor as my foot is still aching and quite swollen but much better than the beginning of the week. I am hoping to go back next Friday though. Really bored and to top it all off getting very hormonal!

What a Face

Made loads of baby booties and bibs and now just finishing a quilted cot blanket. (who is is for I have no idea lol)

Re: What sort of day have you had

Post by caffeine needed on Sat Oct 20, 2012 9:30 pm

Good lord what a weekend. Sarah came home on Friday. She's had an ear infection and wasnt feeling well and I'm so glad she did!!!
I went to bed at 10.30, late for me but we were chatting, was woken up hearing my o/h shouting 'Helen get down here'. Jumped out of bed and immediately had to jump back in again as felt a fit coming on. Thankfully James also woke and I sent him down to find out what was wrong he came tearing back up saying mum come quick Sarah is lying on the floor crying.
So down I go to find her hysterical lying on the floor unable to move!
o/h said she'd got up started to walk across the room and just collapsed.
Now picture the scene I'm feeling fittish but daughter is completely sobbing her heart out, o/h is repeating over and over do we need an ambulance and James is hovering around worried out of his mind - oh and I'm feeling a fit coming on any minute.
orders abound J switch the tv off and both of you make me a drink quick.
then I drops to the floor to try and find out what was wrong.
anyway to cut a long story short after calming her down I learn her right leg had suddenly gone numb and given way causing her to fall. after checking her responses (she could tell I was touching her knee but couldnt say exactly where and couldnt feel lanything ower than that, however I ran my finger down the base of her foot and she did have a reflexive reaction so I felt some hope.
finally James and I lifted her onto the sofa and we sat for a while. Her right leg below the knee didnt seem to belong to her and her foot seemed twisted and just hung.
After an hour and half her leg all feeling had almost completely returned and it was decided not to take her to casualty she said she didnt want to sit among a load of drunks and tbh I was worried going out would trigger a fit for me.
Any way she was ok this morning we have had her checked out by a doctor at the walk in centre and he has suggested she visit her uni doctor and tell them he recommends she see a neurologist. She is now back to her sensible self but I am so glad it happened at home - she will know what has happened if it happens again and wont be so overset but last night was horrible. Phew and I wanted a quiet, calm weekend!!!!!!!!

Blimey Helen thats awful !!! hope you are both feeling better now !!
I have a friend who was on my FD course with me and is now at uni with me ,anyway last week she had a lump removed from her throat after an overnight stay inhospital.
The lump had been attached to her windpipe so she was glad to get it sorted, and was assured by the surgeon that it was 99% clear of cancer
However It was unfortunatly cancerous so she now has to have a total thyroidectomy. She told me yesterday and was in tears as she told me .
I did what I know i can do - Held her hands, looked into her tear stained face and told her that it IS treatable, and that Her job is to be positive .I said that I wasnt trained in anything medical but will always be there for her whenever she needs me,
We went to student services to inform them etc
She asked if I would tell our other friends from the FD course so I sent them a long email explaining .
Sad now im just feeling helpless but she she sent me such a lovely text today which made me cry
" You might not be the worlds best essay writer (your words not mine)but you have so many wonderful qualities that are worth more than writing essays.Thankyou X" Well that did it !!! Sad
So my Job is to be normal (not nice at her request ) and support her as best i can .

Thanks ladies,I like the idea of normal (that was my friends suggestion)
So tomorrow we are meeting in the cafe at uni for tea and on to the library for some heavy duty proposal writing .(due in 3 wks )

Ive just realised that our `posh do` in the houses of parilament is a week on Saturday !!im soo excited that I will be wearing a VERY glamourous and VERY red beautiful dress. Having lost over 1 stone I know that it will feel great !!
Do you know that I have never worn a strappless dress before as im a big girl who was born a 36dd (well thats how i see it !) but because it is boned I dont need to worry .
Also I have a fab shrug ? not sure if its called that, its black satin and just covers my shoulders (we have to keep shoulders covered as its very formal .
Because we are on a tight schedule time wise the whole event will be starting at 6pm with a security search ,then a tour (thankgoodness i have comfy shoes )followed by a full 3 course sit down meal .The whole thing finishes at 11.30pm (usually 4a.m!) so my oh helpfully suggested we all go to stringfellows nightclub afterwards Laughing not sure they`d accept a load of army guys in full mess kit including spurs !!!! Laughing
Im now giving a lift to a 1st year student twice a week which is nice as it gives me someone to talk to and saves me singing ! her mum and husband are friends of mine anyway (her stepdad is jacks maths teacher and such a nut case but brilliant ) so Im hoping to seek his advice re my maths ! well he did give me his mobile number at the last parents evening and told me to ring if I wanted any support for my maths .Plus his own 2 boys from his first marriage were in my class when i started as a TA .So as i really need the maths input I think I will ask =if you dont ask you dont get !!!!
