I am about to embark on two optional units ' support literacy development' and 'support numeracy development'.

I have to for literacy, write a report that covers :
1 Understand current national and organisational policies and practices for literacy development

1.1 Explain the aims and importance of learning provision for literacy development
1.2 Summarise the relevant policy and age- related expectations of learners relevant to literacy development in the setting
1.3 Summarise the teacher’s programme and plans for literacy development

And for the numeracy/maths I have to write a report that covers:
1 Understand current national and organisational frameworks for mathematics
1.1 Explain the aims and importance of learning provision for numeracy development
1.2 Summarise the national curriculum framework for mathematics including age- related expectations of learners as relevant to the setting
1.3 Summarise the organisation’s policy and curriculum framework for mathematics
1.4 Explain the teacher’s programme and plans for mathematics teaching and learning

My question is regarding the National curriculum.
I work in Reception, and would like to use these hours to cover my observations for these units, though do have the opportunity to volunteer in a year1/2 class.

I know the National Curriculum covers ks1 and ks2 ( plus ks3 and 4). Does the Early years foundation stage fall under the umbrella of the national curriculum or is it an equivalent, but separate entity for birth to 5 in its own right, that sets out statutory requirements for all settings in this age group.

    I hope I'm making sense?

If I was to answer 1.2 for maths in my report, and i am working in reception and my tutor was to observe me supporting maths in Reception, would I write about the national curriculum, or just the EYFS goals?

I would say EYFS. Some schools have changed their policies and guidelines and are not following the national curriculum per sai. Ask what they are following and using.
