Forum Etiquette

Post by Lil Miss Sunshine on Mon Sep 10, 2012 8:53 am

Rules are meant to be broken or so they say but not in this case. I would hope that this site is a warm and friendly one and hope it shall remain so, however there is a need to have a few rules to maintain the status quo.

When registering on Teaching Support we ask you to agree to certain rules.

Although the administrators and moderators of Teaching Support will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum some posts maybe visible for a short while until someone is online to delete them.

All messages express the views of the author, and the administrators of Teaching Support will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

(DO's):

1. Welcome new members. When newcomers arrive, say "hi" and welcome them. Help new folks "learn the ropes" about how to find information and resources, save time, and how to get involved. You will also find a lot of help using the forums themselves.

2. Lend a helping hand. Please share your experiences and knowledge with others.

3. Don't be afraid to share. We all have different points of view which makes us special. What goes around comes around and we have a karma that you can give to users who give good advice or support etc.

4. Check for open topics. Before posting a new topic, please check to see if there is already a topic open on the subject.

5. Use descriptive titles for new posts. Avoid "generic" post subjects like "Help" or "Question". You will receive a better response to your posts by being more descriptive about the content of your post.

Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. Do not post anything that could in any way be construed as offensive, illicit or defamatory.

Do not post messages that are deliberately hostile and insulting.

No Advertising or Links to Third Party Web Sites, Goods and Services
Linking to other sites is fine as long as it is within the context of a discussion; posting a link directly to a resource that answers a question is allowed.

Do not link to other sites or products for advertising purposes.
Do not link to other forums.
Do not post links containing referral ids.
Do not promote pyramid schemes or other Internet scams.
Advertising and inappropriate linking will be deleted. Persistent offenders will be banned.

Do not post your email address or make a thread stating your email address and asking for information to be sent there directly. Likewise do not ask people to PM you information when it would be useful to the forum as a whole.

If you see any post or avatar that breaks these guidelines or recieve an abusive PM please use the post report function.

The Teaching Support forum aims to provide a forum for an inclusive and fun way to interact with other colleagues. Welcome newbies as they have just as much to give to the forum as existing members although they may not be familiar with all of the functions of the site.

Be friendly towards other members (including the moderation and administration team), but if that is not possible please remain tolerant and civil.

As a final note, please be aware that not everyone is who he or she says they are online. We discourage you from sharing personal details or meeting people offline. If you do, even with the greatest of caution you do so at your own risk

Above all enjoy the forum as well as its serious side we do have fun!!!
