Celebrations of different festivals in different religions

2. Be able to work in an inclusive way.
The following element is observations or professional discussions with you in your setting. To be able to gain as much evidence as possible please complete the activities below prior to your assessor coming to visit you.

2.1 Identify which legislation and codes of practice relating to equality, diversity and discrimination apply to own role.

Be ready to discuss legislation with your assessor in a professional discussion. Make notes on legislation and bring these with you. You can use the list below to aid your research.

• Disability Discrimination Act
• Sex Discrimination Act 1975
• Human Rights Act
• Care Standards Act

2.2 Show interaction with individuals that respects their beliefs, culture, values and preferences.

During observation your assessor will be looking at how you interact with the children in your care.

• Have you looked at their care plan? Do you know what name they prefer to be called by? Have they a special toy or blanket they like to have with them? Are there any cultural needs that they have? Have you designed or acquired cultural activities for these children?

2.3 Describe how to challenge discrimination in a way that encourages change.
Your assessor will discuss this with you. Make notes on the following questions to help you.

• How do you challenge discrimination? If you hear someone making a discriminatory remark, how would you deal with this? Do you act as a role model?


3. Know how to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion.

3.1 Identify a range of sources of information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion.

You can make a spider diagram to show this. Be brief and to the point.

3.2 Describe how and when to access information, advice and support about diversity, equality and inclusion.
