Thats brilliant Cindy, im so pleased for you,
I have always believed that patience pays off and it does sometimes mean giving up or leaving what you know or are used to.
My sister has recently been made redundant after 12 yrs working for Virgin (lovely Richard decided to close their call centre ) she is now working in a similar situation to you, mentoring adults, and loves it .
I am loving being a student despite moaning, its great to be doing something different !
Im off to visit my lovely parents today, need to show them my photos and catch them up on my placement. My dad is really into tracing his ancesters so i cant wait to see what he has found out .Oh and of course TEA !!!! my mum doesnt even ask me, just produces a cuppa within mins of me getting through the door!
I have a VERY busy week ahead, I have a submission for Monday (1000 word proposal for dissertation) then straight on to gcse english =debate then start working on my lesson plan for my placement next week (maths activity -data handling yr 1/2 ) then i have to design an information poster (500 words) for our dyslexia module .I also have maths homework for next week and finally a 2000 word essay on what makes a reader ! -forget christmas !! I have 3 submissions due before then Shocked

Oh busy lady Linda xx

I have had a fab weekend at the GMB branch event. Didn't go to my room until gone two in the morning and back up at seven, some were still there around four/five! It was really nice to see all the folks that had sent cards, flowers etc to me after my accident and say thank you in person Very Happy

Having a much better time. I went in friday and today with the attitude that i don't really care what they think.... let them say what they like, i'm not going to let it affect me! So far it seems to have worked. Lets hope it continues!

Start my library job tomorrow! I'm now thinking god what have i taken on! The boss only wants me to do 2 hours a week! I was thinking of organising monitors to help me. Maybe sensible yr 4's.... and have them help me on a tues and thurs lunchtime for half an hour. Not sure how many to have though. They can help me get things boxed up and i can organise other things like the non fiction stuff. Need to get my head round that! Also need to get my head round the computer system and sort out what is on the system and if anything else needs to go on it! I keep making a list of things to do and it gets bigger and bigger each time i look at it! It's quite scary actually! pale

Went to meeting, and managed to be totally under minded by colleague, again! Just can't get a handle on him/her. I have been told by others it is because him/her feels threatened but when i go to the meetings it is as if I haven't been invited to the party. Has anyone else felt like this at work. You just want to get on and do your job and enjoy it at the same time but this person is sucking all the fun out of it. I've been advised to start looking for something better as it could take awhile, trouble is not many jobs out there that I want to do.

Hi there ! life is getting very busy at uni so im sorry for not being around much x
I handed in my dissertation proposal on Sunday and am now working on 2 different pieces that have to be in next week !
1 piece is a dyslexia poster no more than 500 words but has to include the theories of dyslexia and a particular area (mine is magnocellular deficit )sounds posh but really its just a name for a break in the neural pathways which cause the `jumping or blurring of words `)
Plus I have to write a reader analysis (2000) words and do a case study .
oh and a presentation for gcse english ..oh and a maths lesson for my placement.....
Im in uni every day this week (well at my placement school on thurs ) its all very full on and tomorrow is my early start,I leave home at 7.30am and dont get home till after 9pm Rolling Eyes

Oh im feeling a little chuffed with myself after getting an A for my debate on euthanasia last night for English !! Very Happy

Very Happy That is fab Linda, I also lost this month despite not being able to exercise and was 1 1/2 kg down so we both have done well.

Very tired this week as I am now back full time at work Sad Late night last night as I had a union branch metting and came away with 11 GMB calculators to use in my functional skills class (I am sure you all know what it is like to scramble for resources) and these will be a great help and promote the GMB!
It's that thursday group today What a Face though last week they were really nice let's hope today is the same Very Happy

Post by Lil Miss Sunshine Sat Nov 17, 2012 8:44 am

Had a fab but tiring week at work and was exhausted when I got home last night. Thursday group again were really good and worked well.
To top that as well weight loss is storming this week as I have been walking more and exercising my ankle What a Face getting a bit better but still very bruised and as is the foot after all this time I would have thought it would be fading by now.
I have also taken the decision to drop out of cert ed as my head is simply not in the right zone and I found it really hard to concentrate last week. I like to give total commitment to things and I know I would not be able to do this. It feels like a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders Very Happy
I hope you all have a good weekend and try to stay dry. I am going to see my dad today, first time since the accident and will be taking my granddaughter Ella with me. Also going for lunch with hubby and Ella, so should be a nice but damp day out Very Happy

well what an odd day. I had to deal with a supply t.a. arguing with me about the work which was set. I am very pleased with myself because I carefully reiterated the teachers' plans without getting cross. I must admit after the 3rd time of been told "I have to work with X because he cannot do the work on his own" I went into single syllables "He has been given his own work to do and he can do this. I work with him and I know"
This was only a small annoyance but added to her other comments I was ready to be very cross. The teacher has told me she had argued with her yesterday and I'd been amazed! Now I need to decide what to do I expect I'll mention it to the teacher and leave it with her

oh dear Helen, a supply TA with attitude !! not a good mix, I think supply teachers are bad enough but a supply TA has to realise that all schools are different and she cannot go throwing her weight around .Funnily enough my placement school has a TA just like that (not me ! Laughing ) but the class im working in has their own TA who has worked in many schools and apparently has a similar attitude in each !
Im feeling a bit snowed under at the moment as I have a dyslexia poster presentation on Friday then 2 essays due for submission in 2 weeks (3000 words each)!so im working on 2 essay plans a once !!
On a positive note I have taken my ball gown to be altered so I can wear it again to a slimming world ball on the 17th Dec, I have lost 1st 4lb and now the dress is loose around the bust so spoils the look.Thats where the lovely Margaret comes in,Ive known her for 19 yrs and she made Ellens prom dress just from a drawing !I tried my dress on and within mins she had it pinned .
Tomorrow -wed im going to visit my lovely friend from uni who has just had her thyroid removed through cancer so i have promised to go and throw grapes at her Very Happy she is such a lovely lady and we spend alot of uni time together .Then i will go straight over to uni for 12 -1 maths lecture then 2-3 Teaching and Professionalism follwed by 3-4 dissertation lecture and then finally 5-7pm maths seminar.oh and race back home to weigh i at SW !

oh dear Helen, not good at all. I would mention it to the teacher as well. I can imagine your face as you slowly spelt it out to her lol

OMG! Linda, slow down! No wonder you have lost weight, you haven't time to eat Very Happy Well done though on the weight loss and having to take in your dress. Make sure you have some 'down time' though.

Work is going well at the minute and is really full on busy. We are having major refurbishments to the down stairs section of the building and will be moving all beauty and hair there soon, giving more room upstairs. As you can imagine very manic but I am loving it, best thing I did leaving school Very Happy

oh don't mention christmas, not even started yet!
I am going to try and make something for everyone but time is a factor and I am so tired after work so week day evenings are out, which leaves weekends and they are busy visiting lol. Oh well, no doubt I will cram it in when we break on 21st Dec. Very Happy
And do wear the pedometer it would be interesting to see how much you do walk.

lms - hope today went ok. I'm sure it wasn't fun, but hopefully it's another bit done now. I am so sorry for you, I am still having problems following the abscess and know I need more treatment, but I'm putting it off. I've never minded the dentist, but coming to hate it now. The trouble is, they never agree (like plumbers or car mechanics)! One tells you one thing, then another one contradicts it ............................. and it leaves such a big hole in your pocket, too!
Haven't been on here much lately, just read this thread - everyone seems to have been busy. Hope you are all ok and have a good weekend x
